About

Luciena Howard is a textile artist based in the South East of the UK. Specialising in patchwork, machine embroidery and hand beading.

Luciena graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth in 2020 with a BA (Hons) in Textile Design. The year after, going on to win the Quilter’s Guild Student Bursary prize for her naturally dyed patchwork quilt; which was a part of her graduate collection.

Since graduating, Luciena has started creating work under the brand name ‘LUCIE & INDIGO,’ specialising in recycled and reworked textiles, using bold and colourful fabrics to create unique and sustainable one-off pieces.

The name for the brand originated from the shortening of her name, ‘Lucie,’ and ‘Indigo,’ from the first collection that Luciena created, the instantly recognisable patchwork indigo denim jackets.

The main focus of Luciena's work now, is to rework preloved denim jackets and vintage fabrics to create sustainable art, giving unworn and unused pieces a second chance at being loved.
